Child Rights - another event by 'Nine is Mine'

4 days later, on 20/11/2014, our school, Ramjas School, Pusa Road, again participated in an event organised by Nine is Mine, the issue related to 'Child Rights', at Delhi Haat, New Delhi.

Students from VIII class participated in the event and were briefed about the evils of Child Labor and how the issue has paralyzed our society. They were taught how to properly tackle this issue and were sensitized on the current status of children in our independent country - there are around 12 million children in our country, who have to work, so that they can have food at least once a day.

Students also worked with some challenged students and were sensitized to the needs of such children. The students had the opportunity to meet some kids who are child labors and got a firsthand account on how they had to struggle daily for survival and food.

The day’s session ended with a poster making activity on Child Rights, organised for all - including the less-fortunate ones who were helped by “Nine is Mine”. This helped students to understand that they were entitled to more than 40 child rights, which otherwise they were unaware of.

On the whole the activity sensitized the students on the need to eradicate certain evils of society through collaborative work and by teaching the students that unity is power and they should all stand together to fight for the rights of the future citizens.
